ScanInsights was founded by Dr. Dan Ryan, a Visionary in Bovine Reproductive Physiology over 40 years of experience in bovine reproduction. Frustrated by the time-consuming and subjective nature of traditional ultrasound scanning, Dr. Dan envisioned a future where AI could provide instant, accurate reproductive data.

After years of scientific research and development, ScanInsights was born – an AI-powered ultrasound technology that transforms how farmers and veterinarians manage cattle reproduction. Our technology has been recognized with multiple awards and is trusted by farmers and veterinarians across Ireland and beyond.

Dr. Dan Ryan

Dr. Dan Ryan is a reproductive physiologist and leading international scientist in bovine reproductive science, with over 40 years of experience using the reproductive tract as a primary biomarker of animal wellbeing. His career spans research across Saudi Arabia, the United States, and Ireland, backed by collaborations with leading universities including Louisiana State University, Texas A&M University, and Arizona State University.

In 1995, Dan and Aileen Ryan founded ReproDoc Ltd, which has grown into an international service providing ultrasound-based reproductive assessment across Ireland's dairy and beef industries. The company conducts over 200,000 ultrasonographic scans annually and originally pioneered the CADMAN and Smart Scan Experience platforms before establishing ScanInsights - an AI-powered software platform that brings automated image classification to bovine reproductive ultrasound.

Today, with over 2.5 million scans powering its AI models, ScanInsights technology is transforming cattle reproductive assessment in Ireland and the UK. This innovation enables accurate, non-subjective ultrasound image interpretation that supports improved animal welfare, reproductive performance, and contributes to reducing the environmental footprint of the dairy and beef industries.

In 2025, ScanInsights was awarded the Start-Up Innovator of the Year at the Enterprise Ireland Innovation Arena during the National Ploughing Championships - recognition of how this technology is reshaping the future of cattle reproductive assessment.
